I'm definitely a "wing it" kind of sewer. Not against patterns, but I usually just don't ever use them. Thanks for the chance at that pretty stash!

I use patterns for clothes, and wing it for everything else.

If I am making a quilt I generally just make it up as I go, but if I am making clothes I have to use a pattern. I hope to get better at just winging it on sewing clothing because I have a hard time finding patterns I like.

I have never used a pattern, but am contemplating using one soon...just to try it out!
I start with a pattern and usually screw it up somewhere along the way so then I punt and pray till the end.

Right now I'm using patterns but I'm getting braver, and I'm about to have a go at my own pattern.
I know a lot of the standard blocks and settings - so kind of 'wing' quilt designs with what I know - I don't like patterns as you end up with a quilt maybe 300 other people have.
Gwyneth said…
i like making up my own
Shannan said…
for the most part...pattern or tutorial girl with my own tweaks. thanks for the chance
Sallie said…
I do both - follow patterns for specific blocks, but I do my own thing for putting them together into a completed quilt. Thanks for the giveaway! I love solids!
Andrea said…
What an awesome giveaway! I MUCH prefer to use patterns than make it up as I go - maybe as I gain experience I'll try making up my own design; but for now, I'm a pattern girl all the way!
I usually make it up but at times it is nice to use a pattern...I love this bundle - almost bought it the other day :-)
moshie said…
Both! I'm still new enough at sewing that patterns are a great help! But I also love the innovation of winging it. Love Moda!
I tend to be a pattern follower, but I've done a few things without a pattern.
tracy_a said…
to start, patterns please (but not templates!) - and let me know how to wing it after I get the hang of it :) beautiful fabric!

Oh wow, I never buy solids and I know I should.
I love to make it up as I go along but rarely have the mental energy and peace and quiet to do so, so patterns it often is! Thanks for the giveaway.

I usually take a pattern and then half way through decide to wing it. Not always the smartest thing but most of the time it works :)
I prefer to make it up as I go. I know that no one else will have a quilt like mine.
Most of the time I like using patterns - less stress on the brain - lol! Thanks for the opportunity to enter your great giveaway.

I use patterns for clothing as a basis, but often tweak the design or change something like sleeves, neckline etc.
Quilting, I sometimes use a pattern but more often I just wing it or change the pattern so much it's hardly recognizable
Simply EC said…
I LOVE following directions so I use patterns for the most part, but occasionally I'll depart from meticulous instruction following and just wing it.
Tanya said…
I prefer patterns but certainly trymy own thing once in a while, that's what a seam ripper is for!
Sunnybec said…
As I only started quilting last year I have to use patterns, though I do sometimes change how many rows I do and how many or how wide the borders are. Thanks for the chance

Oh, I have a couple patterns that I would love to make with these. I'm just too lazy to do my own design when there are so many to choose from that others have already done.
