Circa 50 by Monaluna for Birch Fabrics, 100% Organic
So now you've seen the prints, and I really need your help. I've already been conceptualizing the next line, but I thought it would be fun to get some feedback. Tell me what you think of when you think of the "Sixties". Does British Mod excite you? Or maybe you are into the The Freedom Loving vibe. Tell me, I really want your opinion! (Okay I just have to add one more, what about the California 60's theme, gidget, vintage trailers, palm trees, bon fires, stars as far as the eye can see, sunny breaks on the waves, oh no, I think I've got a whole new line in my head. LOL)
3 Lucky Winners will receive 1 yard cuts from the entire collection. That's 12 yards each. Pretty Awesome right! But to sweetin' the deal even more, you will also be the first people who will receive the fabric, not a single manufacturer or retailer will have the fabric before you. So you will be able to brag to all your friends, maybe make some really fun items to inspire others, I see a flickr pool don't you?

Ok now to answer your question - I think British Mod sounds fun - can't wait to see what you come up with!!
I think I lean a bit more towards the Freedom Loving Vibe, but either/or sounds awesome.
You really have done a fabulous job. You should be proud, not nervous.
I think I'd like the Sixties Brit Mod idea just because Freedom Loving makes me think of psychedelic colours lol
Ok, when I think of the 60s, I think about Woodstock and the Beatles. How about some funky retro birds (kinda like what you see in the Woodstock logo), some John Lennon style glasses, or some little guitars?
Well, I think all the British Mod stuff that I like is actually 50s stuff. What about scandi design from the 60s? Might take some research to get enough of a feel for, but I love that stuff!

I'm not a huge fan of freedom lovey vibes prints but I think British Mod sounds fantastic. I can think of a million things I could make with that... get crackin' ;).
British mod sounds awesome, and hasn't been overdone. (As someone who was a teenager during the 60's fashion revival in the late 90's I'm done with the whole flower power thing.)
But, then again, I was in Calif, so there was a lot of the Beatnik & Flower Child influence, too! So you could really go either way! (big help-I know)
You nailed the 50s though, so no doubt the 60s will be great, too! Keep up the good work!
Hope this list helps you make a decision! Thanks for the chance to win the fabric.
Lyndsay
Until you posted this, I didn't even know you were coming out with your own line of fabric... congratulations! Breathe easy, dear, you did a great job! I think I'm gonna vote for some 'freedom lovin' next. ^_^
When I think about the 1960s, I think very mod, British invasion. Like the iconic video of the Beatles playing on the Ed Sullivan show.
Re: the 60's...I think of rock and roll, the Beatles, the summer of love, San Francisco. I can't wait to see what you develop!
caribousmom (at) gmail (dot) com
When I think of the 60s, I think more free loving. I think flowers, tie-dye, hippies and the like.
Does British Mod excite me? So much so that the very words make my heart flutter! Yes, yes, yes!
British Mod! British Mod! I can't wait to see what you come up with!
When I think 60s, I think early 60s style - with lines out of Mad Men or skinny pants like an Audrey Hepburn movie. (okay, so it's a bit late 50s too). I like that moment when suburbia began to cut loose a bit, let their hair down and go beatnik. It's a little more polished than the love fests, long hair and trippy flower power (though they are fun in their own way). Excited to see what you come up with next!
When I think if the 60's, I think bright colors, greens and oranges and yellows, and liquid-y shapes (free-flowing and not geometric).
I do love British Mod ... that sounds intriguing.

But then again, I'm a scooter girl.
I love the line.
LOVE.
The chairs are so HOLY CRAP awesome.
Congrats.
I think Brit Mod would be awesome!
congrats!
Bring on British Mod (then Freedom Loving Vibe soon-after). ;)
I think I might like Freedom loving vibe if earthy colors but maybe the British Mod!
Thank you!
And British Mod sounds scrumptious! So many great images pop into my head! Can't wait to see what you come up with :o)
When I think of the 60s, I think of psychedelic colors swirling together, rainbows, peace signs swinging around the necks of long-haired men and women, large crowds swaying together, guitars, campfires and VW vans. (I always knew I was born in the wrong decade). Can't wait to see it!
As for the Q-
I would go with British Mod too, although I am not sure what that entails totally, but it sounds cool. :P
British mod would be my choice, but you always pick out the best fabric and that is why I like buying from you:)
British Mod sounds smashing.
I am polar opposites with the 60s. I love the British Mod look (very exciting), but also love the soft Flower Child look as well: daisys, soft flowing clothing, hand embroidered shirts, acoustic guitars, sandals, and the like. Not too fussed on the psychedelic looks of the 60s.
Congratulations on your line! It is utterly fabulous. I must have it. :)
When I think of the 60's I think of a time of contrasts. There are the peace-loving hippies and flower children, but also agressive war protests and civil rights movements. So I really think of it as both a time with rough edges and uglyness and also a youthful idealism. Maybe this isn't the answer you were looking for, but it's what I think of

And British Mod sounds great!
Thanks a lot.

Thanks for the great giveaway!
For the 60s, British Mod would be great. I also think of the space age when I think of the 60s; space themes would be fun!
I'm definitely a fan of the freedom loving vibe. But what a brilliant job on your circa 50 line.
Sixties... I guess what I think of is British Mod, the early beatles, woodstock, the space age (like the jetsons cartoons)... I am a bit over flower power stuff.
When I think of the 60's, I think British Mod. I'd love to see a fabric line based on that!
In answer to your question, I think of little British sports cars: Triumph, MG, Mini with their bold colors and racing stripes. I love the structure of the shapes, the bold color contrast, and the freedom and adventure of putting the top down and taking off!
I personally would go for the British Mod myself, but to me they both scream 60's.
Thanks for such a fabulous giveaway!
I think British mod would be nice, or possibly some play on barkcloth patterns from the period.
Congratulations!
Rebecca
If I don't win, I will definitely buy them :) That car and space fabric is just gorgeous!
The 60's... well, I wasn't around back then, but all that flower power stuff has been there alot and it simply everywhere (which gets a bit annoying and boring), so I guess I would like to have a bit of a change and see what you can come up with for british mod.
Your fabric is awesome. I love them all, especially the cars and chairs and everything else.
I definitely think of free lovin', peace and hippies when I think of the sixties, but British mod would be something new for us.
when i think of the 60s it hink of beads...grassy farms...and music.
so i guess freedom loving vibe.
Id love to be your winner.
krousegirl2 at aol dot com
i don't really know what i picture with the 60's, but i think british mod sounds fantastic!!!
As far as the sixties, I think British Mod sounds super cool. I can't wait to see what you make! :)
I know. Weird combination. :)
Congratulations on your fabric. I love every print of it. My favorite are the chairs.
For the 60's I think the whole hippie thing is a bit overdone. I think more the of British mod thing, chunky eyeglasses, GTs, polka dots. I can't wait to see what you come up with and crossing my fingers that I get the special shipment!
I love your designs BTW!
I love the Freedom Loving idea. I always loved the hippie era and would love to see it on fabric. BUT I would do the British Mod right after because it is also a great idea.
Love these prints =)

60's? How about surfboards, Woodies, beach movies? Headbands and beads? Moccasins and fringe?

What do I think of when I think of the 60s? Probably inspired by Austin Powers since I wasn't born in the 60s, but I think of flowers, bright colors, short skirts, tall boot, flipped hair, did I mention bright colors?

I love your line of prints! Fabulous! I think the space print would make a great crib bedding set!

I like the Gidget/retro trailer ideas, the 60's make me think of 'Pillow Talk', party lines and such, even though that movie was made in 1959, lol. Thanks for the chance to enter! =)
Ideas for the sixties - psychedelic, peace sign, tie dyed!
Beautiful fabric by the way!
Congrats on the new collection. It is MODtastic!
I am already thinking about making the pebbles into a super-cute 60's shift dress. British Mod - just that name would draw me to it, for sure.
For a 60's vibe, I love your California kinda idea. I think surfers and waves, convertibles with girls in headscarves flapping in the breeze and big sunglasses (white ones? cat eye ones? a sunglasses print would be fab!), those big Twiggy kinda eyes with the thick eyeliner and lashes, mini skirts and mod style...kinda easy and free. I could go on, this is so much fun.
littlefishtextiles_at_gmail_dot_com
I love the California vibe idea for the 60's edition. if not British Mod would be awesome too.
Now to answer your question... when I think of the 60s, I think of peace signs and flower power and patched denim bellbottoms. But I like the British Mod idea better than the hippie thing.
Ps. I adore the woodland critters!

I know we are a bit behind the times, watching the first season of Mad Men, but it is in 1960, so I think the British Mod theme would be awesome. The 60's wasn't all flower power, there was some clean lines too.
I tend to get very confused about decades, but I think the 60's make me think of protest, the voice of the people and all that :-) I've probably got my decade wrong, but I'm sure whatever you come up with will be great ;-)
I love the mid century modern feel to these and so when I thought about the 60s I automatically thought of Mad Men. Clean lines, martinis, tailored clothes, powder blue cars. Yum.
Of course being the daughter of a British Mum and a Californian Dad the British Invasion and smooth West Coast style are hits with me!
Thanks for sharing and congrats again

I think of my aunt who drove a Mustang with 3 kids in it! They always got to eat at the drive in (callled Bronco Hut). Thanks for a great giveaway!
Thanks for sharing!
The '60s to me say British Mod. I was born in the '70s, grew up in the '80s and I am a diehard Austin Powers fan, so I don't know if you can trust me.
Congrats again! Keep those creative juices flowing.
I love the idea of California 60's... palm trees, beach, very cool!
And British Mod sounds like a wonderful plan to me.
As for 60's, makes me think of where I grew up, where recycling and knowledge and expanding your horizons were important.
I think of the Beatles. And pictures of my dad with an extremly ridiculous hair cut...
60's..well, i was born in '79. i will say i am over peace signs. feels kind of cliche and kitschy, i do love what i've seen of british mod. VW buses are as cool as ever, the music, and your desc of the freedom loving vibe was pretty cool.
I would love to see the Peter Max psychedelic 60's theme. I was in junior high then and very into the prints and bright colors. My dad went on a business trip to London and brought me back a mini skirt from Barnaby Square - I was in heaven.
I love all the retro lines these days - so much fun.
Congrats on your line and here's to a great success with all you do.

I cant wait to purchase some and decide what to make out of it. Congratulations on a beautiful line!
I LOVE this line. Luuuuuuv. The color combination is both retro and fresh. I can't wait till January. I smell a quilt...
I love the 60's! hippie flowers, bell bottoms, VW cars, peace signs, etc. Not sure what British mod is, but i love anything British anyways :).
And yes the beach/surfing vibe goes well with the 60's too - Gidget, Beach Boys- California Dreaming.
Hope this helps!
I really like your Woodland Friends fabric - very cute.
Thank you and congrats on the new line.

On the sixties: I'm a true Valley girl, having grown up in the San Fernando Valley in the sixties. Here are the images I remember: lots of cool adobe buildings, creamy with walls a foot thick, and long long porches and archways (some were my school buildings); dust, dust, everywhere, on the playground, in the street blowing up along the asphalt where there were no curbs, tamed only by a front yard of bushes here and there; in the housing tracts, lawns and sprinklers (Joni Mitchell's "The Hissing of Summer Lawns"); where there was not yet a subdivision, orange trees, bright orange, with dense dark green pointy leaves; oak trees, 500 years old, older than the missions even, with one in our back yard!; swimming pools to beat the heat, swimming wherever we went, always the perfect shade of chlorine blue; the beginning of strip malls, little stores lined up against each other with a patch of parking space; and four-lane freeways that went everywhere, sometimes you could go for miles without seeing other cars, or you could drive across the whole country on them (as we did several times), brand new gray swirls of off-ramps and four-layer interchanges.
Time to stop! Thanks for the great fabric.
Gidget California idea-wooden longboards and adorable one piece bathing suits!
Adele
As far as 60's go, I love the "Gidget", campers idea. I also love the British Mod idea. Not too keen on the Freedom lovin' idea at all!
Sandy A in St. Louis
Love your collection! Hope I'm one of the winners!
Kim
For your new 60's theme, I imagine a bunch of hippie girls with different hats, skirts on a moped bike. sunshine, stars, moon, zodiac symbols... since the zodiac was big back then. "Hey baby, what's your sign?"
Can't wait to see the new line!
What an amazing give away! Thank you!
I love the British theme.....but, I have to say I love the great California 60's theme. I just really love to watch the beach movies and I love the little travel trailers, the Beach Boys,.......... okay..... I say DO BOTH!
I LOVE this fabric and can't wait til I can buy some!!!! I really love the cars and space ships and the trees and......I love them all!
I think I would go rather see the british mod but I would also love to see your california one.....that sounds fun! thanks for the giveaway!
I love the retro look of the 60's- the pop art so to speak- it captures the flower power free spiritedness that was part of that time- I was a child in the 60's but as a teenager I had bright purple pansies that were an enormous print...I look forward to seeing your new designs.
Someone will enjoy a wonderful giveaway prize from you.. It is indeed a special giveaway.
Warmest regards,
Anna
Course, winning this great prize would be cool too!!
Thanks for your giveaway. The fabrics are great.
I like the British Mod or Cali ideas! Whatever you choose I am sure it will be beautiful!
rsgrandinetti@yahoo(dot)com
love the samples here, would be so fun to work with.
Love the British Mod 60's idea...sometimes the hippy- peace 60's idea is hard to incorporate into finished items . I think the Mod 60's theme lends itself to greater variety of finished items with what I am sure would be another fabulous range of fabric designs !
as for the next line, you can never go wrong with airstream! :)
I love the the idea of "60s" fabric. Some peace loving flowers and maybe some cat wall clocks (you know the ones - with the tick tock tail and the rolling eyes). The 60 should leave you wide open for some exciting colour choices!
Keep up the great work!
I like the British Mod as well.....although I don't really care for this seasons "Mad Men", I think something along those lines would be cool (more straight-lined furniture, advertising from that era, etc :) )
Thanks so much!
